Two-factor authentication (2FA), sometimes referred to as two-step verification or dual-factor authentication, is a security process in which users provide two different authentication factors to verify themselves. For example your password and a one-time-password (OTP).
2FA provides a higher level of security than authentication methods that depend on single-factor authentication (SFA), like a password or passcode.
The second factor could be a OTP generated by an Authentication Application (such as Google Auth or Authy) or a physical key (like a Yubikey).
During the account creation process, new users are required to activate 2FA to secure their accounts.
If you need to reset 2FA, see our page "How do I reset my 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)?".
How to set up 2FA?
Requirements:
You must have an authentication application capable of scanning QRs (desktop or mobile). We recommend installing Google Authenticator App on your mobile device. You can find it in the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android).
Steps:
- Open the Google Authenticator App and click the【+】symbol.
2. Scan the QR Code shown on screen using your mobile camera.
3. Enter the One-time password to finalize the 2FA activation.
That's it! You will be required to enter the OTP given by the authentication app every time you login into your TrustToken account.
